Overview

The role of Mobile Crane Operator at Two Way Cranes involves operating mobile cranes to perform lifting and hoisting tasks safely and efficiently. Responsibilities include adhering to health, safety, environment, and quality (HSEQ) standards, executing lifting operations according to regulations and industry best practices, and providing leadership and support to ensure a culture of safety and continuous improvement. Through skilled operation and proactive adherence to standards, the Mobile Crane Operator plays a crucial role in facilitating safe and successful lifting operations, safeguarding employee well-being, and upholding the company’s reputation for excellence in crane operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate mobile cranes of various capacities to lift, move, and position heavy loads.
  • Ensure all lifting operations are performed with precision and in accordance with job requirements.
  • Adhere to health, safety, environment, and quality (HSEQ) standards at all times.
  • Conduct pre-operational checks on cranes to ensure equipment is in safe working condition.
  • Comply with all relevant regulations and industry standards governing crane operations.
  • Communication and Coordination:
  • Maintain clear communication with ground personnel, dogman, riggers, and other crane operators.
  • Coordinate lifting activities with site supervisors and other stakeholders to ensure safety and efficiency.
  • Equipment Maintenance:
  • Perform routine maintenance checks on cranes and report any defects or issues to supervisors.
  • Ensure cranes are properly maintained and serviced according to manufacturer guidelines.
  • Assess load weights and dimensions to determine the appropriate crane and lifting method.
  • Rig loads securely and ensure proper attachment to crane hooks or lifting devices.

Licence Provisions:

  • For the Operation of vehicle loading cranes:
  • Hold a CV (Cranes, vehicle loading) licence
  • Operate cranes within the specified capacity and limitations of the licence.
  • For the Operation of non-slewing mobile cranes:
  • Hold a CN (Cranes, Non-slewing less than 3 tonnes capacity) licence.
  • Operate cranes within the specified capacity and limitations of the licence.
  • For the Operation of slewing mobile cranes up to 20 tonnes capacity:
  • Hold a C2 (Cranes, Slewing mobile up to 20 tonnes capacity, incorporating CV and CN) licence.
  • Operate cranes within the specified capacity and limitations of the licence.
  • For the Operation of slewing mobile cranes up to 60 tonnes capacity:
  • Hold a C6 (Cranes, Slewing mobile up to 60 tonnes capacity incorporating CV, CN and C2) licence.
  • Operate cranes within the specified capacity and limitations of the licence.
  • For the Operation of a slewing mobile crane with up to 100 tonnes capacity:
  • Hold a C1 (Cranes, Slewing mobile up to 100 tonnes capacity incorporating CV, CN, C2 and C6)
  • For the Operation of slewing mobile cranes without a capacity limit:
  • Hold a C0 (Cranes, Slewing mobile incorporating CV, CN, C2, C6 and C1) licence.
  • Operate cranes within the specified capacity and limitations of the licence.

Experience and Skills

Have extensive experience in operating mobile cranes within the heavy equipment and construction industry. Possess a strong understanding of regulatory requirements and industry standards, with proven expertise in maintaining health, safety, environment, and quality (HSEQ) management systems. Key skills include risk assessment, hazard identification, incident investigation, and compliance monitoring to ensure safe lifting operations. Demonstrate effective communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills to engage with employees at all levels of the organisation and promote a culture of safety, environmental stewardship, and continuous improvement. Hold the correct High Risk Work Licence depending on the capacity of the crane being operated, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and the ability to operate cranes within the specified capacity and limitations of the licence.
